Who we are
About Stripe
Stripe is a financial infrastructure platform for businesses. Millions of companies—from the world’s largest enterprises to the most ambitious startups—use Stripe to accept payments, grow their revenue, and accelerate new business opportunities. Our mission is to increase the GDP of the internet, and we have a staggering amount of work ahead. That means you have an unprecedented opportunity to put the global economy within everyone’s reach while doing the most important work of your career.
About the team
Stripe’s mission is to increase the GDP of the internet. The promise of crypto—digital money and a new internet—is squarely aligned with that mission, and the Stripe Crypto team is dedicated to doing our part in bringing that promise to life. Our approach is firmly rooted in providing utility to the crypto ecosystem: our users need better building blocks to accept payments, move funds, and exchange between fiat and crypto. By focusing on these problems, we aim to build faster, more trustworthy, and higher quality crypto-native experiences.
We’re a fairly new and exceptionally fast-moving team within Stripe, having shipped multiple products in the past year. In 2024, we will bring those products to scale while also pursuing new ones. We’re looking for engineers with prior experience in the cryptocurrency space who are invigorated by the opportunity to bring their existing expertise to benefit Stripe’s users. As a full stack engineer on the team, you will be asked to build crypto applications and infrastructure, and build the bridge between Stripe systems and web3 infrastructure.
What you’ll do
Responsibilities
- Design, build, and maintain our applications, from the user interface through to core data models and APIs
- Debug production issues across all levels of the stack
- Work with engineers across the company to build new features at large-scale
- Improve engineering standards, tooling, and processes
Who you are
We’re looking for someone who meets the minimum requirements to be considered for the role. If you meet these requirements, you are encouraged to apply. The preferred qualifications are a bonus, not a requirement.
Minimum requirements
- Have experience developing in the cryptocurrency space in prior roles, both as a full-time job or on technically complex side projects.
- Have a history of collaborating with and participating in the cryptocurrency and web3 communities.
- Have experience building software and systems that strike the right balance amongst simplicity, flexibility, and safety. We work mostly in Ruby on the backend, with some Java, and our frontend is React-based. However, languages and frameworks can be learned: we care much more about your general engineering skill than knowledge of a particular language or framework.
- Hold yourself and others to a high bar when working with production systems
- Take pride in working on projects to successful completion involving a wide variety of technologies and systems.
- Thrive in a collaborative environment involving different stakeholders and subject matter experts
Pay and benefits
The annual US base salary range for this role is $157,100 - $212,500. For sales roles, the range provided is the role’s On Target Earnings ("OTE") range, meaning that the range includes both the sales commissions/sales bonuses target and annual base salary for the role. This salary range may be inclusive of several career levels at Stripe and will be narrowed during the interview process based on a number of factors, including the candidate’s experience, qualifications, and location. Applicants interested in this role and who are not located in the US may request the annual salary range for their location during the interview process.
Additional benefits for this role may include: equity, company bonus or sales commissions/bonuses; 401(k) plan; medical, dental, and vision benefits; and wellness stipends.
