We’re seeking an accomplished Backend Engineer to join our team focused on customer authentication and identity. As the most senior engineer in the team, you’ll aid your colleagues in designing, developing, and supporting applications, services, and experiences to provide customers with secure access to our platform. You’ll also be responsible for building creative solutions to deliver scalable user verification and identity. You will work closely with our principal engineers and engineering managers to ensure that our services meet the highest quality, reliability, scalability, and performance standards.
What You’ll Do
  • Architect, design and implement services and experiences related to platform authentication and user identity management.
  • Act as the technical lead for your team, taking ownership for the overall quality of the services and solutions developed by the team.
  • Partner with the product team to evolve services in alignment with the overall product vision.
  • Own the end-to-end delivery of software components from inception to production.
  • Work in a cross-functional agile team to deliver working software incrementally.
  • Instrument, test, profile, and code review software.
  • Continuously deploy to our cloud-based infrastructure.
  • Scale software services and infrastructure for a quickly growing user base.
  • Lead code reviews for projects and systems as a self-directed reviewer, applying design principles, coding standards, and best practices.
  • Collaboratively review and update coding and architectural standards.
  • Create production readiness plans for all software releases.
  • Mentor and develop other members of the Stash Engineering team.
Who We’re Looking For
  • Significant commercial experience in designing, building, and supporting large-scale services and systems. This is typically demonstrated by having previous experience as a technical lead responsible for delivering a large-scale backend system.
  • A hands-on systems thinker who can identify issues and create compelling solutions through code at scale.
  • An understanding of domain-driven design principles with the knowledge to apply these principles to design and deliver long-term maintainable solutions.
  • A cloud-native engineer who is comfortable working with Kubernetes, Docker, associated technologies, and cloud infrastructure providers (AWS).
  • Experience working with Golang and/or Ruby to deliver APIs and services.
  • Creative problem solver with an affinity for testing, debugging, and overall code quality
  • Data-driven decision maker, willing to take risks, fail fast, and iterate quickly.
  • A multiplier with a background in developing people around them.
Gold Stars
  • Experience with authentication and authorization systems, including vendor integrations.
  • Previous experience of know-your-customer or customer identification programs and solutions created to meet these requirements.

Salary Range: £84,000.00-£126,000.00
The base salary range represents the reasonably anticipated low and high end of the salary range for this position. Actual salaries will vary and will be based on various factors, such as the candidate’s qualifications, skills, experience and competencies, as well as internal equity and alignment with market data for companies of our size and industry.
