Job Description
The Opportunity:
We, at Flywire, are looking for an experienced engineer to join the Site Reliability Engineering Team to help drive reliability, automation and performance in our cloud-based infrastructure. SRE team mission is to safeguard and improve reliability across Flywire software and systems with a focus on customers and clients. We help foster a resiliency culture, and empower Engineering & Product with tools for continuous improvement.
Reliability means to ensure our high-stakes high-value payments are trustworthy and delivered timely, making them resilient to the company and industry pace of change and innovation, so Flywire customers and clients don't need to worry about their payments.
Our team works in collaboration with the development teams enabling and empowering them to achieve full speed on shipping reliable and operable systems. They also work at a global scale driving initiatives to achieve production excellence.
- Design, build and maintain core infrastructure pieces with a focus on availability, latency, performance, and capacity.
- Be embedded on a development team helping them navigate production excellence and advocate for best practices.
- Engage and collaborate with other disciplines in the design, deployment, operation, and optimization of services.
- Debug production issues across services and levels of the stack and practice incident response and blameless postmortems.
- Be offered the option of joining an on-call shift along with other disciplines, learn from our incidents and grow as a competent Engineer.

What’s next in our team?:
- Consolidation of the Observability overhaul initiated in 2023
- Continue evolving Victoria, our internal delivery platform- including its life and development cycles.
- Improve the adoption of reliability patterns in Core Payments Platform services
Here’s What We’re Looking For:
- We are aiming to build a multidisciplinary and balanced team based on "t-shaped" individuals. As such we are looking for people comfortable with the idea of being or becoming a generalizing specialist.
- Software engineering is an important part of our work.. Experience with at least one programming language is a must; experience with techniques such as TDD or BDD will be highly valued.
- Being familiar with the container ecosystem, cloud infrastructure, build systems and CI/CD tools.
- You will need to be comfortable taking ownership of complex systems challenges and help uncover opportunities for improvement.
- One of the key SRE goals is to enable self-service in Flywire Engineering teams, you will need empathy and strong communication and collaboration skills.
