Ontra is seeking a Staff Software Engineer reporting to our Director of Engineering.
This role is a great opportunity for someone who is passionate about tackling complex technical challenges, architecting robust and scalable systems, and collaborating with cross-functional teams. What you’ll do
- Exploration: Play a crucial role in helping Ontra explore and prototype solutions. Contribute to discovering new solutions to problems.
- Contribute to Engineering Culture: Provide engineering prospective and help set engineering best practices.
- Set Technical Direction: Speak for Ontra's technology and engineering culture. Take a long term and pragmatic view of technological progress and how to maintain Ontra's technology stack
- Be The Glue: Help teams by doing the invisible and unneeded tasks needed to effectively ship software and proactively spot risks.
What you’ll bring
- Expertise: 10+ years in software engineering, 6+ years developing in Ruby on Rails
- Education: Bachelor’s Degree or higher in Computer Science or related field
- Results-driven approach: Proven experience delivering features and solutions that have a direct impact on revenue growth, savings, or operational efficiencies
- Problem Solving Skills: Ability to tackle complex technical problems with creativity and efficiency
- Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication across technical and non-technical team members and stakeholders
Pay transparency
Ontra considers candidate location and experience when evaluating compensation levels. Some positions may be eligible for additional compensation, such as variable compensation, which is not included in the base pay range below. Base pay range
$200,000—$300,000 USD
