We are seeking a Software Engineer to be part of our Digital Subscriptions team as we continue to create and maintain 90+ news sites and build advanced features in our in-house built WordPress platform. What you will do:
We are seeking a Software Engineer to be part of our Digital Subscriptions team as we continue to create and maintain 90+ news sites and build advanced features in our in-house built WordPress platform. What you will do:
- Innovate, design and develop extensible and reusable components for our digital subscription and user authorization platforms with quality and performance being your #1 priority
- Translation of business requirements and vender integration documentation into production-ready code that will produce the best user experiences
- Identify and analyze multiple approaches to solve a problem and come up with the best architectural solution within the available timelines
- Participate and be effective in code reviews, both giving and receiving feedback
- Create and update documentation
- Help create and follow development processes that enhance quality and increase productivity
- Be a contributor on our cross-functional digital subscriptions agile team focused on building value for readers and subscribers while accelerating subscription growth and engagement
- Regularly collaborate with other software engineers, engineering leadership and product management during definition and prioritization by brainstorming and envisioning the solution and providing a job size for prioritization; work with project management throughout the agile delivery lifecycle
What you will bring:
- PHP
- WordPress experience
- Vanilla JavaScript skills and understanding of DOM
- Prior experience with Ruby on Rails (ROR)
- Familiarity with version control systems like git
- AWS microservices (Lambda, DynamoDB, API Gateway)
- Knowledge and experience with SSO login systems (e.g. Auth0) a plus
- Excellent communication skills to translate technical concepts and challenges for business stakeholders
- Ability to learn new technology independently with strong troubleshooting skills
- BS in Computer Science/Engineering, an intensive bootcamp or equivalent experience
- 2+ years of relevant software development experience
- Experience working in an agile environment a plus
The annual salary range is $100,000 - $115,000. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to education, work experience, time in role, certifications, etc. This role is eligible for a bonus based on performance. In addition to your salary, MediaNews Group offers a comprehensive benefits package, and a 401K plan (all benefits are based on eligibility).
