As part of our post-Series C growth, we're hiring a Team Lead to join our Engineering team. You will lead and mentor a team of engineers, providing technical guidance and best practices, and coordinate multiple deliverables in an agile, fast-paced environment. Reporting to the Engineering Manager on our Major Medical team, you will help cultivate a positive working environment and be a critical part of our mission to advance, accelerate, and humanize the employee benefits industry.
About the role
- Coordinates and can account for multiple projects tackled by front and backend engineers to ensure successful project planning and execution. Checks in and helps unblock engineers to hit deadlines and perform at high standards.
- Lead code reviews or sprint design conversations and make technical trade-offs, identifying issues in execution and figuring out solutions
- Proactively informs manager of decisions and communicates effectively with stakeholders, peers, and other teams
- Ensure the best possible performance, quality, and responsiveness of our applications by helping to identify bottlenecks and bugs and devise solutions to these problems
- Ensure our team’s code is tested, maintainable, and able to change to meet the needs of our business and customers
About you
- 5+ years of experience building highly available Ruby on Rails applications (or a similar framework)
- 2+ years experience as a team lead on an agile team and enjoys mentoring engineers in new concepts and technologies
- Experience with PostgreSQL, with the ability to understand and write efficient queries taking full advantage of Postgres’ JSON/B data types
- Backend focused but understands and can help coordinate on frontend initiatives - experience with Vue is a plus
- Comfortable working in a fully remote environment
