MarsBased is a consultancy of experts in IoT, e-commerce, Business Intelligence, blockchain, and web & mobile development using Ruby on Rails, Python, React, React Native, Angular, TypeScript, and Node.js, delivering flawless and tasteful code, crafted with precision by a team of senior developers.
We face business the same way we approach life, with our heads up, a limitless mindset and strong core values. We take on projects the same way we engage with technology, with a fascination for novelty, endless enthusiasm, and creative sophistication.
We are looking for a Ruby on Rails Tech Lead to join our team and become an important part of our company.
General Skills
- Good communication skills with clients and teammates. No one will be managing communication for you.
- You’ll need to be able to explain complex technical topics to non-technical stakeholders.
- Accustomed to making estimates, managing projects, and being ultimately responsible for them.
- Manage product releases on your own.
- You can work on several projects at the same time.
- Fast learner and problem solver: There won't be a safety net because you will be the safety net. If you can't solve a problem, the problem won't be solved.
- Be comfortable working with time and/or budget constraints.
- Self-management working remotely.
- Fluent in written and spoken English and/or Spanish.
Tech Skills
- 6+ years of experience building Ruby on Rails applications.
- You can recognize the value of Ruby on Rails conventions (ActiveRecord, MVC), but you can leverage them with other design patterns according to the project's needs.
- You have built projects from the ground up and you have maintained them over time, including Ruby on Rails version upgrades.
- We will value Open Source contributions to Ruby projects.
- You have used caching in your projects and you feel comfortable with different caching mechanisms and caching software tools.
- You have conducted performance audits, tunings, and/or security audits for the projects you have been responsible for.
- Advanced SQL knowledge and performance tuning of SQL queries and indexes.
- Advanced Docker and Docker compose knowledge, both in development and production.
- Comfortable with DevOps tasks and concepts. You will be deploying to production and solving infrastructure challenges. If you do not know what a VPC, a Load Balancer, or a Subnet is, do not apply to this offer.
- JavaScript and/or TypeScript knowledge. Experience in Angular and/or React is valued.
Benefis
- Work from home or from a coworking space.
- Flexible working hours.
- Be your own boss in the projects you are assigned to.
- You can influence the present and future of the company as you will be a core part of it, working together with the CTO, the CEO and other Tech Leads.
- Amazing coworkers.
- Transparency and quality-oriented culture.
- Company activities and retreats.

Location
- You may only apply for this position if you reside in Europe.
