Software Dev Manager, QuBIT

Job summary
The Quantitative Business Intelligence Tools Team is looking for an experienced Software Development Manager to own and execute on the short and long-term development roadmap for critical reporting mechanisms supporting Amazon's Global Customer Fulfillment Operations.

In this role, you will be responsible for leading a team driving the modification, development, testing, debugging, and support of business critical tools and applications used across the North American Customer Fulfillment (NACF) Network with visibility spanning from Fulfillment Center teams to corporate leadership.

The cornerstone of this tool-set is CAMP (Critical Amazon Metrics Platform), which provides critical metric visibility to tens of thousands of users, every year via millions of page views and interactions with the website. As a Senior SDM with ownership of CAMP and its associated platforms, you'll act as the primary technical decision maker, working directly with the CAMP Product and Program Teams to make sustainable technological decisions that will impact product development for years to come.

You should be enthusiastic about learning new technologies and be able to design and implement solutions using these technologies to empower internal customers and scale existing platforms. Application breadth can range from creating a new solution to an old problem, or diving into a space to create new value for our operators in Fulfillment Centers.

You should also be passionate about support and development of your direct reports, acting as a formal mentor as they journey through their career at Amazon. Along with this, you will contribute to wider Software Development Engineer support efforts, supporting programs designed to help SDEs realize their full potential though mentoring, training, and instructional program development.

Key job responsibilities

  • Manage a large team of Software Development Engineers with ownership of a wide suite of software solutions that support Amazon's Global Customer Fulfillment Operations.
  • Act as the primary 'big picture' technical decision maker, utilizing inputs from your software development and product teams to make key technological decisions that will impact the function and scalability of the software under your ownership.
  • Own the planning, execution, and reporting of bi-weekly development sprints, acting as the primary funnel through which all sprint input and output is communicated.
  • Support the career development of the individual Software Development Engineers within the QuBIT organization, providing one-on-one mentorship while contributing to macro-level SDE development efforts such as training programs and larger-scale cross training opportunities.

A day in the life
  • Attend daily meetings to ensure the successful execution of the current sprint plan while implementing contingencies
  • Attend weekly calls with the CAMP Product and Program Team to provide input on development efforts and planned feature launch timelines
  • Own ongoing collaboration between Software Development Engineers to ensure successful long-term implementation of scalable software solutions
  • Work with peers and leadership across QuBIT to design and deploy technical execution standards to raise the bar at a team and org level
  • Support the short and long-term career path of your direct reports via regular team meetings and one-to-one meetings
