About the Team
The storage and consumption team builds products that empower our customers to fully optimize a building’s energy usage and production, and educate homeowners and business owners on how modifying energy consumption, understanding utility rates, and adding storage can enhance solar designs for the best energy efficiency and savings. The team fosters a supportive and inclusive environment where open communication and mutual respect are key, and team members enjoy helping each other in their professional development. 
About the Role
As a senior backend software engineer on the storage and consumption team, you will help us develop accurate methods to model building energy consumption in various domestic and international locations, which serve as the foundation of high quality solar designs. You will also help us build product features that enable our customers to model and sell whole home electrification and battery storage, both of which are very effective ways to optimize energy efficiency and solar savings. 
Your Impact
  • Program in Ruby on Rails
  • Build new functionality and features for consumption modeling, utility rates, whole home electrification, and battery storage
  • Scale Aurora's infrastructure by 10x over the next year
  • Develop and extend our existing backend API
  • Build integrations with other players in the solar industry
  • Take operational responsibility for the services that are owned by your team, including taking part in an on-call rotation
What You Bring
  • 5+ years of experience as a software engineer
  • Experience developing backend web systems
  • Experience managing databases (PostgreSQL preferred)
  • Familiarity with (or eagerness to learn) Ruby on Rails
  • Familiarity with Git or other version control systems
  • Passion for renewable energy and sustainability
  • Ability to perform and thrive in a remote environment at a fast-growing company
