Hireology is based in Chicago, but our Engineering team works remotely, so you’ll be able to work from the comfort of your home. We have regular company-wide events, semi-annual team gatherings, and frequent celebrations when we hit our goals.

It's with that in mind that Hireology is looking to add a Manager of Software Engineering to our team.
What we're looking for is someone who has a passion for software development, cares about growing others, is fun, engaging, and is open-minded to trying new things.
Hireology is based in Chicago, but our Engineering and UX teams work remotely, so you'll have the option of working from the comfort of your home or right in our office if you're local. We have regular company-wide events, semi-annual team gatherings, and frequent celebrations when we hit our goals.

As a Lead Software Engineer, you'll be responsible for: 
 
  •  Understanding product requirements and helping translate them into small user stories and technical tasks. 
  •  Successfully work in a fast-paced continuous delivery model where code is delivered to production multiple times a day. 
  •  Mentoring associate engineers on coding best practices and technical design approaches 
  •  Foster high levels of collaboration, innovation, and drive results through teamwork and individual contributions 
  •  Managing feature roll-outs using a combination of techniques such as feature flagging and compatibility measures. 
  •  Being a subject matter expert in your area of technology 
  •  Facilitating the successful transition from products to modern technology stacks 
  •  Leading code reviews, unit testing, and automated acceptance testing with your team 
  •  Partnering closely with our engineering, product, UX, and business teams to ensure that we are delivering the best possible outcomes for our internal and external customers
 
 Okay, we've laid out what the job is - now are you qualified? 
 
  •  Helped interview and built diverse and inclusive teams 
  •  Knowledge and experience in working with Agile development methodology. 
  •  Experience with Golang, Ruby, Java, C#, or other strongly typed languages 
  •  Familiarity with service-oriented architectures (e.g., REST, SOAP, and RPC) 
  •  Understanding of cloud-based PaaS or Serverless offerings in Azure and/or AWS. 
  •  Work with Feature Management tools like LaunchDarkly to enable last-mile safeguards 
  •  Instrument and emit critical telemetry to support high availability with tools like New Relic, Datadog, or Honeycomb.io. 
  •  Excited about delivering quality and are familiar with unit and acceptance testing frameworks 
  •  Experience with third-party API integrations 
  •  Comfortable in a modern software engineering environment with distributed source code control, dev/stage/prod release cycle, extensive testing, and continuous deployment 
  •  Experience with relational databases, SQL, and key/value stores 
  •  Experience with messaging and distributed systems. 
  •  Comfortable with AuthN/AuthZ solutions like OAuth/SAML/JWT with third-party solutions like Azure Active Directory, Auth0, or similar.
