We are looking for a generalist Software Engineer who is excited about creating and supporting web services that provide the core functionality for the financial ecosystem, considering functional and nonfunctional requirements, as well as collaborating with other teams to evolve such services towards our technological vision.
Backend Software Engineers are responsible for creating robust, scalable, and secure backend systems to support various applications. They collaborate closely with their team and support others to achieve collective goals. Backend Engineers must ensure the quality and performance of the software while considering the trade-offs for each decision. Additionally, they are tasked with identifying areas for improvement in both technical deliverables and processes.
Key Responsibilities- Understand and analyze the root cause of issues when challenges arise.
- Design and implement backend solutions that solve defined problems.
- Develop software to meet business and team goals, optimizing for performance and reliability.
- Diagnose, fix, and prevent bugs or incidents in the backend infrastructure.
- Identify, assess, and communicate risks associated with backend development and system integrations.
- Support best practices and promote clean, efficient code among the team.
- Mentor and support fellow software engineers, especially in backend technologies.
- Maintain project focus and ensure backend objectives align with broader team goals.
- Stay up-to-date on backend technologies, processes, and best practices adopted by the team.
- Create and maintain documentation, ensuring backend processes and designs are well-documented.
- Assist with troubleshooting and triaging bugs or incidents that may impact backend systems.
- Review code, with an emphasis on ensuring high-quality and secure backend implementations.
- Monitor backend services, ensuring uptime and addressing performance or scalability concerns.
- Actively participate in team ceremonies and contribute backend perspectives during discussions.
- Conduct technical interviews, assessing candidates' backend expertise.
- Participate in early discussions for medium to complex projects, contributing backend insights.
- Assist in breaking down complex backend projects into manageable tasks and milestones.
- Pair program with team members to share knowledge and troubleshoot complex backend issues.
- Support onboarding of new backend engineers, introducing them to backend processes, tools, and best practices.
- Collaborate with tech leads and architects to evolve the backend architecture in line with project needs.
- Propose and lead initiatives focused on continuous improvement for backend development practices.

- Technical Expertise: Strong background in backend development with a solid understanding of programming fundamentals.
- Code Quality: Knowledgeable in best practices for code structure, readability, and maintainability.
- Software Design: Experience with software design patterns relevant to backend systems.
- API Development: Strong experience in designing, building, and integrating APIs, with an understanding of RESTful and/or GraphQL standards.
- Production Experience: Experience deploying, monitoring, and maintaining software products in a production environment.
- Architectural Knowledge: Familiarity with backend architectural patterns (e.g., MVC) and experience with microservices is a plus.
- Iteration & Improvement: Experience delivering solutions iteratively, with a continuous focus on optimization and improvement.
- Microservices Expertise: Experience designing and deploying microservices-based architectures.
- Language and Frameworks: Knowledge of Ruby and Ruby on Rails is beneficial.
- Cloud Platforms: Familiarity with AWS services, including deployment and monitoring solutions.
