Your Role in Our Journey:

At Jane, we're excited to announce an opportunity to join our Data Enablement and Management team as an Intermediate Back End Software Developer. We're looking for a motivated individual to contribute to this newly formed function. This role has arisen from our commitment to enhance the way we collect, manage, and use data. If you're passionate about transforming the way an organization thinks about data and eager to tackle the challenges of increasing data volumes, we'd love to hear from you.

Your role here will be instrumental in reshaping our approach to data collection, organization, and utilization. This is an exciting opportunity for you to not only learn new ways of scaling a SaaS app but be a part of the evolution of Jane's data strategy, enabling us to effectively manage the ever-expanding volumes of data we encounter.

In this role, you'll be working with a talented team tasked with identifying and addressing challenging gaps in our data access layer, providing innovative solutions that propel us forward in our data journey. Your contributions will directly impact how we think about and utilize data, driving improvements in efficiency, decision-making, and overall business performance.

This is a Back End Developer position. You'll be working with Ruby on Rails, but we welcome applicants with experience in Java, C#, Python, or Go. If you don't have Ruby experience, we still encourage you to apply.

The impact you could have
  • Play a pivotal role in enhancing our data management capabilities, directly impacting the way Jane collects, uses, and thinks about data.
  • By helping address the current data access gaps, you will support the data security strategies at Jane.

The experience we feel we need
  • Our development team at Jane primarily works with Ruby on Rails, but we welcome applicants with experience in Java, C# and Python. You will have the resources to ramp up on our tech stack if you haven't worked with it previously, so please don't hesitate to apply!
  • You have have strong knowledge of relational databases and ORMs.
  • You love working with SQL and have a passion for optimization (particularly with PostgresSQL).
  • You are someone who consistently monitors the health of the product through tools such as Sentry and Datadog.
  • You are a team player who is comfortable at collaborating and communicating with people in your team and across functions.
  • You can adapt to fast changing scopes and requirements.
Compensation Expectations for the Role

Jane’s committed to paying our team members fairly, clearly, and above all, paying for growth. This role has a minimum annual salary of $95,100 and maximum annual salary of $142,600. As you may have noticed, this salary range is quite large, and this is intentional to account for the growth someone will experience in the role throughout their time at Jane (i.e., from building the skills, to accomplished, to highly proficient, all the way to achieving excellence in the role). When hiring talented folks to join the Jane team, we’ve found that new team members are best set up for success when hired with the expectation of being fully accomplished in the role, which for this role would reflect a starting salary of $112,900.

It's also possible to join Jane at a salary above or below this, which would mean a salary below $95,100 typically reflects someone who has all the potential to be fully accomplished in the role but doesn't yet possess all the skills required, while a salary above $112,900 is typically for individuals who are currently in this role at Jane and had the opportunity to make a significant positive impact on our customers, product and company with deep Jane knowledge.
