Cobalt is the world's largest pentesting platform delivering thousands of pentest per year. Cobalt’s Pentest as a Service (PtaaS) platform is modernizing traditional pentesting. By combining a SaaS platform with an exclusive community of testers, we deliver the real-time insights you need to remediate risk quickly and innovate securely. We see the Pentest as a Service model as a first step in our vision to create a new interface to the security workforce. We have seen tremendous traction over the years and today, have 1000+ customers on Cobalt’s platform.
We are remote-first with local hubs distributed across the US, the UK, and Germany. We have Scandinavian roots, an American base and a global outlook. Our team is characterized by a fun, fast-paced and collaborative culture based on individual responsibility and ownership.
We have secured more than $50M in funding from a variety of top flight investors, led by Highland Europe. We are using our funding to expand global usage and continue development of the Cobalt platform, which pioneered the Penetration test as a Service (PtaaS) model.
Vice President of Engineering
- Lead, hire, manage, mentor, and coach a team of global engineers as we build the leading scalable Offensive Security Platform
- Own the ongoing improvements of our existing offerings and the build out of new innovative products as we grow our portfolio
- Collaborate with the senior leadership team on cross functional initiatives
- Own the technical vision and architecture of our platform, ensuring that we are building for scale, stability, and resiliency
- Foster a culture of innovation and experimentation
- Create and implement standards around quality, efficiency and security
- Drive the adoption of best practices in engineering design, architecture, and development, ensuring all solutions are scalable, resilient, and high-performing
- Develop and own the strategy to continuously improve engineering quality and efficiency leveraging AI technologies, coding best practices, and agile methodologies
- 15+ years of experience in software development, with at least 5 years in building SaaS cybersecurity products.
- Strong multi-cloud engineering experience
- Experience with Secure SDL best practices and building DevOps/DevSecOps teams
- Led distributed international engineering teams
- Recent expertise building AI enabled products and leading data science teams
- Strong internal and external communication skills; experience working with a variety of business functions
- High emotional intelligence, adaptable, and comfortable with change
- Demonstrated ability to manage and scale engineering teams effectively, with a focus on technical excellence
- Tech Proficiency: Strong skills in our architecture: Ruby on Rails + JavaScript (React). Additional familiarity with other aspects of our tech stack is a plus: Node.js, cloud environments (GCP, Kubernetes)
- Proven ability to recruit, mentor, and retain great people
