We’re looking for a Staff Engineer to play a critical role in shaping our technology landscape, driving architectural decisions, and mentoring engineering teams. This is a high-impact role where you'll blend technical expertise with leadership, ensuring Beam’s systems are robust, efficient, and future-ready.

- Lead the architecture and implementation of large, cross-functional engineering projects
- Drive technical strategy, ensuring systems are scalable, performant, and maintainable
- Provide hands-on development support, balancing leadership responsibilities with active coding
- Establish and uphold best practices in software development, including code quality, testing, and security
- Partner with Engineering leadership to evolve Beam’s technical infrastructure and tooling
- Work closely with Product, Design, and other Engineering teams to align on technical goals and business priorities
- Collaborate with Data and DevOps teams to enhance system reliability, observability, and automation
- Mentor and guide senior engineers, fostering a culture of continuous learning and technical excellence
- Participate in quarterly planning cycles, ensuring engineering efforts align with Beam’s long-term vision
- Identify opportunities to improve system performance, scalability, and cost efficiency
- Drive adoption of modern technologies and architectural improvements
- Implement strategies for technical debt reduction while balancing feature development
- 6-8 years of experience in software engineering, with a proven track record of technical leadership
- Deep expertise in systems architecture, scalability, and performance optimization
- Strong experience in Python, Ruby, and JavaScript, with a solid understanding of modern frameworks and cloud infrastructure
- Ability to influence technical decision-making and align teams around strategic initiatives
- Excellent problem-solving and troubleshooting abilities, particularly in large-scale distributed systems
- Experience working in Agile environments, with a focus on continuous improvement and iteration

The base pay actually offered will take into account internal equity and budget for the open position and also may vary depending on the candidate’s job-related knowledge, skills, and experience, among other relevant factors.
