DOPE Marketing is one of the fastest-growing marketing and software companies in Minnesota — recently ranked #7 in the state by Inc. 5000. We help home service businesses, franchises, and marketing agencies dominate their markets with automated, data-driven print campaigns powered by our proprietary DOPE 3.0 software.

Build Fast. Ship Smart. Help Us Reshape Local Marketing.

DOPE Marketing is one of the fastest-growing MarTech startups in the US. We’ve scaled 10x in four years by helping thousands of businesses send hyper-targeted direct mail without lifting a finger—and our product team is just getting warmed up.

We’re looking for a mid-to-senior software engineer to help us scale our Rails + React platform and build the next generation of features for real-time marketing automation, AI-powered campaign orchestration, and CRM-connected print workflows.

This is a remote role on a high-ownership product team where your code will ship fast, be used daily, and impact thousands of businesses immediately.

The Candidate We’re Looking For

You’re an experienced builder who thrives in fast-paced environments and cares deeply about delivering high-quality software that drives real business results.

You have:

  • 6+ years of professional software engineering experience

3+ years working in a fast-moving startup (bonus if in SaaS or marketing tech)

Strong proficiency in Ruby on Rails (or similar MVC frameworks)

Experience building scalable frontends with React (or similar frameworks)

Expert SQL skills and a clear mental model of how to architect performant queries

Proven ownership of major features: from architecture → data modeling → API design → UI implementation → observability

A balance of pragmatism and technical rigor—you’re comfortable with tradeoffs, but you don’t cut corners

What You’ll Be Doing

You’ll join a mission-driven team that’s shipping real features fast—and you’ll be at the center of it.

Your responsibilities will include:

  • Owning the main codebase powering DOPE’s direct mail marketing platform

  • Leading architecture and implementation of ambitious new features that touch the full stack

  • Tackling our hardest technical challenges—data complexity, performance optimization, and product scalability

  • Driving quality across the team through code reviews, standards, and mentorship

  • Helping us balance new feature velocity with technical debt management and platform stability

  • Contributing to and evolving our development process, helping shape the culture as we scale

What We’re Building

Here’s a glimpse of the roadmap:

  • A dynamic campaign builder that launches targeted postcard campaigns based on CRM triggers

  • An AI assistant that recommends the right marketing action based on live customer data

  • A credit-based usage system with granular pricing, tracking, and billing logic

  • A new React-based front end for our dashboard and automation flows

  • Deep CRM integrations with ServiceTitan, Jobber, Housecall Pro, and more

We’re backed by explosive growth, a loyal customer base, and a clear roadmap to $100M+ ARR. You’ll be building the foundation.

This Is a Remote Role

We work async, stay lean, and don’t waste time in meetings. You’ll collaborate with a highly motivated team through tools like Slack, Linear, Notion, and GitHub.

Why DOPE?

  • 4+ years of profitable, bootstrapped growth

  • Thousands of daily active users

  • Real customers, real marketing ROI, no fluff

  • A product-led culture that values execution and experimentation

  • A high-performing, low-ego team building fast and scaling smart
