New Relic helps engineers and developers do their best work every day—using data, not opinions—at every stage of the software lifecycle.

Your opportunity
The Authentication Platform team builds the front door for our users. We take a platform approach to creating and enhancing our user models, authentication processes, and API's used by our customers.

As a senior engineer, you’ll collaborate with engineering, architecture, and product management teammates to build the best authentication platform in the Observability space. You'll lead innovation efforts, and help the team build new features, experiment with new ideas, and feed our product and engineering work. We’ll explore new technologies and approaches to make sophisticated problem spaces easy, while maintaining legacy code that continues to serve us. We currently use Ruby and Rails, but will be expanding our tech footprint to Java and other languages appropriate to our work.

What you'll do
  • Design, implement, monitor and scale microservices that control user provisioning, login and access permissions, with a particular focus on providing a secure and reliable platform for internal teams and user-friendly interfaces for customers of all sizes
  • Identify and solve customer challenges in close collaboration with product management, product design, and your tight-knit engineering team
  • Mentor engineers on the team and across New Relic

This role requires
  • 4+ years building & shipping production software, using continuous delivery practices.
  • Expertise in a backend development language such as: Java, Ruby, Golang, Python or C#, or other equivalent language
  • Experience with identity, authentication, authorization, security, or personalization programming (OAuth, OIDC, SSO implementation experience especially valued!)
  • High level of emotional intelligence with collaboration and listening skills that encourage different perspectives and creative solutions

We're looking for bold and passionate people to be a part of our mission to create more perfect software. We'd love to have you apply, even if you don't feel you meet every single requirement. What's most important to us is finding authentic and accountable people who feel connected to our mission and values, not just candidates who check off all the boxes.
