We have team members located across the United States spanning multiple time zones. This means we put in extra effort to make sure we connect and collaborate in ways that make sense for us. We know how valuable the flexibility of remote work is for our employees.
We know that personal connection is the foundation for the great work we do together. In order to build those relationships with team members in other cities, we meet with coworkers in person two times a year at a full company offsite and a departmental offsite. These offsites are expected of employees and are great opportunities to meet the people you work with every day and to do some of the work that is much more difficult to do virtually.

What the Role Is
Babylist is currently seeking a dynamic and enthusiastic Staff Software Engineer to join our recently established Health team. Launched in October 2022, Babylist Health is dedicated to offering a user-friendly and transparent platform for pregnant people to acquire breast pumps through insurance. The team plans to expand its offerings to support additional pregnancy, child, and postpartum health needs in the future. The distributed team is committed to scaling their technical systems to support their growing user base, and creating a user-friendly storefront to support Babylist Health's objectives for 2024. The role involves identifying and leading strategic initiatives that will enhance health-related offerings as the business expands. As a vital member of the team, you will lead pivotal projects, making critical decisions about the growth and scalability of our systems.
In your capacity as a Staff Software Engineer, collaboration with our product and design teams will be integral to shaping new product initiatives and implementing flexible, user friendly feature sets. Additionally, you will collaborate with fellow staff-level engineers throughout our engineering organization to identify and address systemic bottlenecks, design architectural enhancements, and implement them alongside your team.

How You Will Make An Impact
- Lead the development of scalable systems, propelling Babylist Health to surpass $100M in revenue over the next 3 years
- Establish yourself as a subject matter expert in our health services, actively shaping the growth and scalability of services and features
- Collaborate closely with the Product team to innovate in health features, spanning product education, automated user support flows for operational scalability, and the expansion of goods and services offered through health insurance
- Take on a pivotal role in providing technical leadership within the Health team, setting high standards for technical excellence, offering guidance on best practices, and actively contributing to technical planning and implementation
- Mentor team members in design and architecture planning, conduct thorough code reviews and facilitate knowledge-sharing sessions to foster skill growth and advancement
- Demonstrate your adaptability and enthusiasm for fast growth by leveraging your experience in small to medium-sized startups
- As an emerging leader, you are dedicated to continuous skill enhancement and are passionate about elevating the capabilities of the engineers around you

Babylist takes a market-based approach to pay, and pay may vary depending on your location. Your actual base salary will depend on factors such as your skills, qualifications, experience, and work location.
The estimated pay range for this role is $159,360.00 - $239,040.00
In addition, Babylist offers equity, bonus, and benefits, including company paid health, dental and vision insurance, 401(k) matching, flexible spending account, and paid leave (including PTO and parental leave) in accordance with our applicable plans and policies.
