Healthie is hiring an exceptional Principal Engineer to spearhead our technical endeavors. In this role, you'll lead our engineering team with expertise and finesse, setting the course for technical innovation and excellence. From architecting scalable solutions to mentoring emerging talent, you'll be at the forefront of driving our product development forward. Responsibilities: What you’ll be doing and held accountable for:
Technical Leadership:
  • Architecting scalable and efficient solutions: Designing and building robust, scalable systems that meet current and future business needs.
  • Providing technical guidance and mentorship to the engineering team: Offering expert advice and support to team members, fostering their growth and ensuring technical excellence.
  • Leading the design and implementation of complex systems: Taking charge of complex projects from conception through deployment, ensuring they meet high standards of performance and security.
  • Evaluating emerging technologies and making recommendations for adoption: Staying current with technological advancements and recommending tools and technologies that can enhance the organization’s capabilities.
  • High-Impact Hands-On Technical Contributions: Actively participating in the development process by writing and reviewing code, debugging issues, and implementing critical features.
Collaboration and Communication:
  • Collaborating with cross-functional teams to align technical decisions with business objectives: Working closely with product managers, designers, and other stakeholders to ensure that technical solutions support business goals.
  • Communicating technical concepts and strategies effectively to both technical and non-technical stakeholders: Ensuring that all parties understand the technical implications of decisions and strategies.
  • Facilitating knowledge sharing and best practices within the engineering team: Promoting a culture of continuous learning and improvement by sharing insights and encouraging open discussions.
  • Leading code reviews and ensuring adherence to coding standards and best practices: Conducting thorough code reviews to maintain high-quality codebases and adherence to industry best practices.
Innovation and Problem Solving:
  • Driving innovation through research, experimentation, and prototyping: Exploring new ideas and technologies, developing prototypes, and evaluating their potential impact.
  • Identifying and solving complex technical challenges: Applying deep technical expertise to troubleshoot and resolve intricate issues.
  • Continuously improving development processes and methodologies: Enhancing workflows and processes to increase efficiency and effectiveness.
  • Leading efforts to optimize performance, scalability, and reliability of systems: Ensuring that systems are robust, performant, and capable of scaling with business growth.
Qualifications: What we expect from you:
  • You have a track record of success: 10+ years of relevant industry experience shipping applications to production environments. 
    • Technical Expertise: Mastery in software development, system design, and coding with proficiency in Agile methodologies.
    • Advanced Skills: Experience in cloud computing, DevOps, database management, and security practices.
    • Specializations: Proficiency in performance optimization, complex system architecture, and data processing.
    • Leadership & Collaboration: Ability to mentor other devs, manage projects, communicate effectively, and drive innovation.
    • Continuous Improvement: Emphasis on iterative development, feedback loops, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Building and Shipping: 
    • Roadmap Development and Execution: You excel at organizing input from stakeholders to define business objectives, translating these into actionable system requirements, and developing and executing technology roadmaps that drive results.
  • You strive for Operational Excellence: Best practice experience with coding standards, refactoring, complexity reduction, Domain Driven Design, and schema design.
  • You bring hands-on experience: Tech leadership experience as well as experience with object oriented design and modularization of monolithic applications and have experience maintaining and upgrading Ruby and Rails-based production stacks.
  • Tools & Tech Experience: Our stack includes Rails, React, Typescript, and GraphQL, Postgres, Redis, Sidekiq, RSpec, and Capybara.
  • Prioritization matters: Ability to prioritize platform needs to both short term and long term business needs.

Logistics
Location: Remote, United States
This is a full-time position.

The base salary for this role is $197K-$227K per year + annual company bonus and benefits
The target salary range for this position is part of a competitive total rewards package. Individual pay may vary from the target range and is determined by a number of factors including experience, location, internal pay equity, and other relevant business considerations. We review all employee pay and compensation programs annually at minimum to ensure competitive and fair pay.
